FAQs about EMDR therapy
-
EMDR might be right for you if past difficult experiences are still causing you stress, you're caught in the same unhelpful thought patterns, or traditional talk therapy hasn't quite gotten to the root of things. It's especially helpful when your emotional reactions seem bigger than the situation calls for.
Still not sure if EMDR is the right fit? Contact me for a free consultation so we can discuss your situation directly.

While EMDR was originally designed as a trauma treatment (and still widely used to help people with trauma and PTSD), it’s also great for anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and relationship patterns. Many clients find it helps process life experiences that still feel raw or unresolved, even if you’re not sure if what you experienced is considered “trauma.”
-
EMDR isn't the best fit if you're currently experiencing psychosis, have certain seizure disorders, or aren’t feeling stable enough for deep processing (EMDR can bring up some intense feelings). But don’t worry–I use other therapy methods as well if EMDR isn’t feeling right for you at the moment. We’ll figure it out together.

We're probably a good match if you're looking for therapy that's supportive but not stuffy, you're ready to explore what's going on beneath the surface, and you're open to trying proven techniques. I work best with folks who want both immediate relief and longer-term personal growth.
I see our therapeutic relationship as a key factor in the healing process, so it’s important to feel like we connect. Book a free, no-pressure consultation so we can chat and see if it’s a match.

Getting started is simple–just fill out this quick form on my website, and I’ll be in touch within one business day for a free consultation. We'll chat about what's going on and see if we're a good fit. If we both feel good about working together, we'll set up your first session where we'll get to know each other better and map out a plan.

We'll start by building some coping tools before diving into processing tougher memories. Sessions have structure but flex based on your needs. Most people notice shifts within 6-8 sessions, though deeper work might take longer. And don't worry–you'll have a say in the pace throughout.
